Mahbub Ali emphasizes Bangladesh’s commitment to eco-friendly and people-centric tourism

State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism extends global invitation to explore Bangladesh at UNWTO General Assembly.

Mahbub Ali, the State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, made a compelling call to the world during the 25th General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) hosted in Uzbekistan. He highlighted the significant infrastructure improvements in Bangladesh, such as the Padma Bridge, Metrorail, and Bangabandhu Tunnel, which have greatly enhanced the country’s communication network, promising a more convenient and comfortable experience for tourists. Moreover, he pledged to promote environmentally sustainable and people-centered tourism in Bangladesh.

The 25th General Session of UNWTO took place from 16 to 20 October in Uzbekistan. The Bangladesh delegation, led by the State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, included Mokkabel Hossain the Secretary of the Ministry, Abu Aher Mohammad Jaber – CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board, Sarwar Mahmud – Ambassador of Bangladesh to Spain and Permanent Representative to UNWTO, Mohammad Monirul Islam – Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan and Sanjida Sharmin – Deputy Secretary of the Ministry.

Mahbub Ali addressed the session on October 18, advocating for a robust commitment to eco-friendly tourism and highlighting Bangladesh’s vast tourism potential. He also urged international investors to consider opportunities in the tourism sector of Bangladesh.

On October 19, the State Minister for Tourism engaged in a bilateral meeting with Rosa Ana Morillo Rodríguez, the Spanish Minister of State for Tourism, expressing mutual interest in collaborative initiatives.

Throughout the session, Mahbub Ali engaged in discussions with ministers from various countries, including Germany and Greece, inviting them to explore the beauty and opportunities in Bangladesh.

Additionally, Mahbub Ali met with HMBP Herath, the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Lands of Sri Lanka, during the five-day event, emphasizing the expansion of tourism-related cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the realms of tourism education, training, and sea travel.

Following the session, the Bangladeshi delegation, along with the State Minister is set to return to Bangladesh on Saturday, October 21.
