Dhaka International Trade Fair Commences on January 21

The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is scheduled to commence on January 21, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurating the event at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in Purbachal, the capital’s outskirts. Mahbubur Rahman, Director General-1 of the Export Development Bureau (EPB), confirmed this information on Monday, January 15, noting that the trade fair, spanning a month, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on January 21.

Traditionally, trade fairs kick off on January 1 each year. However, this year, the commencement has been delayed due to the 12th National Parliament Election. The venue for the past two years has been the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) on the outskirts of the capital, a shift from the previous location at Sherbangla Nagar in the city. This strategic relocation to Purbachal aims to minimize inconvenience to the public.

The Dhaka International Trade Fair, a recurring event since 1995, was not held in 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
