Sami Alam a Bangladeshi Sensation, takes the French Fashion World by Storm

On October 23, Paris the World’s Fashion Capital, witnessed a Mesmerizing Fusion of Bangladeshi Craftsmanship and French Elegance, Curated by Sami Alam.

Sami Alam, a masterful storyteller through fashion, left Paris in awe with his two-part showcase, ‘Made in Bangladesh’. This wasn’t Sami’s first foray into the French fashion scene; he previously wowed the Parisian crowd during his Master’s Programme at the International Fashion Academy. However, this time, he took the spotlight, orchestrating every detail of the show.

Balancing the intricate elements of both Bangladeshi and French culture proved challenging but immensely rewarding. Alam’s unique approach to fashion, where clothing, poetry, styling, music, and choreography meld into a unified universe, was evident in ‘Made in Bangladesh.’

The collection featured 20 distinct looks divided into two phases: ‘Weaver’s Prophecy’ and ‘Culture and Love.’ ‘Weaver’s Prophecy’ drew inspiration from Bangladesh’s rural landscape, incorporating elements like Dhakai Muslin, Jamdani, Nakshi Kantha, and Tangail Tant Sari, reimagined to represent typical rural characters.

The second phase paid homage to French culture, with a fusion of Bangladeshi zest. Sami Alam’s show culminated with a standing ovation as he revealed the words ‘Made in Bangladesh’ on a striking red, Jamdani gown.

Sami Alam’s work is a reflection of his deep inspiration from literature, poetry, movies, music, pop culture, politics, generational thoughts, global culture, and nature. He envisions a future where he continues to push boundaries and convey his ideas to the world through his unique collections, all while leaving audiences captivated and amazed, as demonstrated by the reception from the discerning French audience.
