A vibrant three-day Baishakhi Mela began this afternoon at the lobby of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, ushering in the Bengali New Year celebrations in style. The fair, themed “Baishakhi Mela 1432 – Utsab Hok Sobar”, will run from April 13 to 15, with free entry for all visitors.
Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism and Chairman of Hotels International Limited, inaugurated the festival as the Chief Guest. She was joined by Mitchell Lee, Chargé d’Affaires of the Singapore High Commission in Dhaka, and Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation, as special guests. Asif Ahmed, Acting General Manager of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, was also present at the opening ceremony.
The Mela features 31 stalls showcasing traditional Bengali handicrafts, local textiles, jewelry, cosmetics, and an array of regional delicacies—all offered at affordable prices. All food items have been specially prepared by the hotel’s culinary team.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, traditional games such as Bioscope and Tia Pakhir Khela have been organized for families and children. Henna application and face painting are also available, enhancing the carnival experience. Traditional Baisakhi music adds to the cultural charm.
The hotel’s renowned Café Bazaar restaurant is hosting a special Boishakhi food festival titled “Swade Ghraane Bangaliana,” offering over 200 authentic local dishes. Guests using select bank cards can enjoy exclusive buffet deals, including a “Buy 1 Get up to 3 Free” offer.
BRAC Bank has joined as the special banking partner, offering an additional 10–15% discount on purchases. Private satellite channel NTV is serving as the official media partner, supporting the colorful celebration.
